BS 7671:2018 Draft for Public Comment

The Draft for Public Comment (DPC) for BS 7671:2018 is now available. Have your say and influence the proposed content of the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.

The DPC is your chance to see the proposed content ahead of publication and put forward your views to JPEL/64, the technical committee responsible for BS 7671. This is your opportunity to have your say about the IET Wiring Regulations.

How to comment

The process is simple. Visit the BSI webpage for the DPC, sign up with your email address and access the document. You can add your comments to each Regulation as you go through, saving them as you go. As long as you’ve saved your comments you can leave and come back to it at a later date. Once finished you can submit your comments, ready for discussion by JPEL/64. If a comment is saved you can return and change it, as long as you haven’t already submitted it.

Please note: comments can only be considered if accompanied by a proposal for improvement/change. You will be unable to comment via the BSI system if a proposal for improvement/change is not provided.

You have until 23rd August 2017 to submit your comments. After this date, the DPC period closes and no more comments are accepted. JPEL/64 will discuss all submitted comments over the following months and make final decisions before BS 7671:2018 is published, expected to be July 2018.

What’s changing?

The DPC for BS 7671:2018 contains many completely revised and redrafted sections, chapters and regulations. An entirely new area (Part 8, Section 801) is proposed, encompassing requirements for energy efficiency.

An overview of the proposed changes is included in the introduction to the DPC, providing a summary of some of the key amendments and new content.
